RFID Tunnel

Controlled RFID reading at defined passage points

Identify RFID-tagged cartons, pallets or products as they pass through a controlled reading corridor, and transfer verified movement events to the relevant operational systems.

TECHNICAL FLOW

How does it work?

An RFID Tunnel does more than detect a tag; it turns a passage through a controlled reading area into an operational event.

Trigger-based reading, validation rules and existing system integration connect the passage to an actionable result.

RFID Tunnel technical flow
  1. The tagged load enters the reading corridorA pallet, carton or product with an RFID tag enters the defined tunnel area.
  2. The antennas read the tagsThe reader and antenna arrangement capture the RFID tags within the controlled reading area.
  3. The reading event is validatedThe captured data is filtered and evaluated according to the project rules and operational context.
  4. The movement is transferredThe validated event can be transferred to the relevant warehouse, production or enterprise system.
  • Inbound and outbound controlIdentify tagged loads at warehouse, production and shipping passages.
  • Conveyor-based readingCapture products moving through a defined conveyor passage.
  • Shipment verificationCompare the expected shipment content with the tags read at the passage.
  • Production transferRecord material or semi-finished product movements between process areas.

PROJECT NOTE

Reading performance, tag type, product material, packaging, line speed, antenna placement and the RF environment are verified for each project.

What is the difference between an RFID Tunnel and an RFID Gate?

An RFID Gate creates an open reading point, while an RFID Tunnel provides a more enclosed and controlled reading area, often on a conveyor.

Can the tunnel read several tags at once?

Batch reading can be evaluated for the product flow, tag placement, antenna arrangement and passage conditions of the project.

Does the tunnel verify the expected content?

Read events can be compared with an expected shipment, pallet or order list through the appropriate operational integration.
